“John! Please stop petting the test subjects” Sherlock scolded.

“But they’re so cute” John implored undeterred. Understanding suddenly flashed across his face then anger.

“Sherlock! They're kittens not test subjects just what do you plan on doing to them!”

He cradled a kitten protectively to his chest.

“John must you lower your self to the intellectual level of Anderson” Sherlock said his eyes briefly drifting to Johns protective hold on the kitten.

“I am simply observing their response to catnip, they seem to enjoy it, of course my results and completely invalid now thanks to your meddling!”

There was anger in his voice, but John didn’t miss the hurt look that briefly flashed in his eyes.

John internally berated himself for having so little faith in his friend. He desperately wanted to make it up to him but knew if he even tried to apologise Sherlock would just brush it off, so John apologised the only other way he knew, he made tea.
